What is Aadhaar
?
Aadhaar a free helpline for the destitute mentally ill people implemented by Altruist in the city of Ahmedabad in the year 2011 to rescue them from the roads, provide them with security and treatment so that they could get cured and re-unite them with their families. In 2015 Aadhaar extended its services to the city of Vadodara. It works jointly with Hospital for Mental Health, Ahmedabad and Vadodara and Commissioner of city Police of both these cities, adhering to the Mental Health Care Act 2017.

‘Aadhaar’ helpline numbers 9722 100 101 & 200, an indespensible mental health Altruist helpline, structured to receive information from the callers for rescue, care and rehabilitation to homeless person(s) with mental illness.
‘Aadhaar’ involves three key stakeholders: Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat, Ahmedabad & Vadodara city police (public law enforcement agency), the public healthcare provider (Hospitals for Mental Health), and The Altruist (a social organization).
The links between these three facets ensure that the individual is able to be efficiently rescued from the streets, provided with a care, treatment, security and rehabilitation with the eventual goal of returning the individual to their family and community.

What are the Objectives of Aadhaar
?
To rescue destitute mentally ill, facilitate their protection, care, treatment and rehabilitation and reintegrate them with their family for respectful living post recovery.
How to go
about it
?
Once we get a call on our helpline numbers, a team is dispatched for rescue. After ascertaining the person he/she is rescued with the help of local administration
After rescue he/she is admitted in the Government Hospital for mental health for care and treatment
Once these patients start recuperating, during counseling efforts are done to extract their whereabouts, locate their families so that they can be re-united with their families.
Aadhaar also provides FREE Ambulance services to the families who need to bring the patient to the hospital.
Under the Persons with Disability Act 2016, the patients and their families are helped to avail benefits provided by the Government.
